The wonderful adventures of Mary Jane Seacole

A strong-willed woman, Seacole managed to collect enough money to open a shelter for wounded soldiers during the Crimean War. Her Caribbean and Scottish ancestry certainly didn’t help her make a name for herself in the second half of the 19th century, but her resourcefulness allowed her to carry out this project, bringing significant help to the soldiers. She was never rightly valued for her contribution, probably because she didn’t fit the canons of the time. It is of a woman out of the schemes that we tell you today, a woman who was able to believe in her dream until the end challenging prejudices and difficulties.
